Celebrate your first evening in France with a Welcome Dinner to introduce you to the flavors of Lyon.

Day 2

Wake up your palette with a guided tour of the famous ‘Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse’ for a guided food tour, including samples of a range of products, wine tasting, and time for shopping. Enjoy a panoramic view of Basilica Notre Dame de Fourviere followed by a guided walking tour of Old Lyon, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and learn about the rich history of this beautiful city and  explore the hidden traboules (or secret passageways).

Take a trip to a silk shop, then enjoy the balance of the day at leisure to explore more of Lyon.

Burgundy

Day 3

Travel to northern Burgundy after your gastronomy and sightseeing adventures in Lyon are complete. A carefully balanced itinerary of sightseeing, wine tasting, and culinary experiences awaits!

Depart Lyon this morning and travel through Burgundy enroute to your accommodations for the following seven nights. Stop in the Mâconnais region to explore a charming village with a tasting of the region’s wines with lunch.

Arrive at your accommodations and settle in before a Welcome Dinner.

Day 4

Visit Beaune, the charming walled town distinguished by its unique array of pre-Roman, medieval, and Renaissance architecture. Roam at leisure with our Expert Host through the market, gathering ingredients for the Chef’s dinners. Lunch is at leisure.

Experience a guided tour of the Hotel-Dieu Museum, or Hospices de Beaune, and appreciate the flamboyant Gothic architecture of France’s most prestigious historic monuments. Return to the villa for a Chef’s Dinner.

Day 5

Explore Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a pleasant village listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France.” Spend time at leisure to admire the beautiful ancient houses and superb medieval fortress, which is an excellent example of 14th-century Burgundian military architecture. Visit a truffle farm near the Cote d’Or and Nuit St. Georges. The owners will greet our group and explain the truffle industry — from the natural cycle of the truffle, to harvest and the development of their brand. Go into the park outside to experience a truffle hunting demonstration with one of their truffle dogs before adjourning to the terrace for a truffle lunch.

Enjoy another Chef’s dinner in the evening.

Day 6

Take a morning visit to Abbaye de Citeaux, which was founded in 1098 by Robert de Molesmes and is the cradle of the Cistercian Order, which is  located in the plain of Saône, in the heart of Burgundy.  Discover the monastic life and the Cistercian tradition. This spiritual and cultural journey through the monastic enclosure, leads you on a  900 years journey through history, to the living community of today.

Visit a renowned vineyard in the heart of Nuits-Saints George. Surrounded by a sea of vineyards, Nuits-Saints Georges is one of the most important stops on the  UNESCO world heritage wine route ‘Route des Grand Crus’. Enjoy a guided tour, tasting and lunch at our hand-curated vineyard.

Get involved in preparing the evening’s Chef’s dinner upon your return.

Day 7

Head to Dijon to experience the city’s market day — one of the largest market days in Burgundy — followed by a guided tour of the capital city of Burgundy. Walk around Dijon city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and see the old city’s 18th-century architecture and the impressive Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy.

Enjoy time at leisure for lunch at Cite de la Gastronomie et des Vins or at a nearby bistro. Return to your accommodation for a Chef’s dinner.

Day 8

Visit the renowned Château du Clos de Vougeot for a guided tour. Originally a 12th-century wine farm, built by monks from the Abbey of Cîteaux, it’s the headquarters of the Climats de Bourgogne. It’s also the Seat of the Order of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, where guests attend a high-level evening event and new chevaliers are inducted into the great Burgundy tradition of conviviality.

Enjoy a new wine experience at a boutique, family run wine estate before returning to the villa.

Enjoy assisting in the preparation of another stunning Chef’s dinner.

Day 9

Say au revoir to Burgundy’s countryside and return to Lyon. Stop off in the village of Tournus for a brief visit to this charming town, including the remarkable St. Philibert Church. Enjoy a coffee stop at leisure.

In Lyon, enjoy one final tour (1 H) of the impressive, historically significant Grand Hotel-Dieu monument, before spending the balance of the day at leisure.
