Day 1: Friday, June 19, 2020

Evening departure from the United States to Marseille, France.

Day 2: Saturday, June 20, 2020

After an overnight flight into Marseille, France, Carrie and our Premier Tours & Travel representatives will be waiting to greet you and your family at the airport. Once settled into our private transportation, we will transfer you and our other guests to a beautiful Provençal property. On route to the property, we will make a stop along the Côte Bleue — Provence's southwestern coast of the Mediterranean Sea — in Sainte-Croix where you will enjoy a delicious Mediterranean lunch while enjoying the breath-taking views and allowing your family to stretch their legs — and their spirits — in the Provençal sea air. A short ride later, you will arrive at your beautiful home for the week, leaving you with time to relax and unwind in your accommodations or wandering the stunning grounds, swimming, or playing boules with your family. You will have the chance to officially celebrate the start of the tour with the other families at a welcome dinner “à l'extérieur,” hosted by Carrie and her family.

Day 3: Sunday, June 21, 2020

Your day will begin with a fabulous breakfast and your French lesson to prepare you for your explorations in Avignon today. After a short ride, you will discover Avignon and Villeneuve-les-Avignon by way of a private, convertible, double-decker bus, taking in views of the beautiful countryside, picturesque towns, and amazing sites, such as Pont d’Avignon, the Chartreuse, the Fort St. Andre, the Philippe Bell Tower, and the island of Barthelasse, among others. After lunch at Le Jardin des Carmes, you will have the opportunity to stroll through the city of the Popes and its surrounding treasures at the Palais des Papes. Home to Christianity in the 14th century, the Palace of the Popes and the famous bridge of Avignon, its cardinal liveries, its abbeys, fort, towers, and ramparts are sure to delight. You also can use your free time for shopping and a twirl around Avigon’s quintessential carousel, too. You will then return to your accommodations for some leisure time before enjoying a relaxing dinner under the pergola once again

Day 4: Monday, June 22, 2020
Following an early breakfast and your daily French lesson, you will be transported to the awe-inspiring Camargue National Park. On route, our private guide will share the history of the Camargue area and information about its wildlife, including bulls, horses, ducks, herons, passerines, harriers, and flamingos, among others. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at the gorgeous property of Manade Jacques Bon, where you will tour the estate by an authentic towed cart and learn about the history of Mas de Peint, the evolution of its agriculture, and the breeding of its legendary bulls and stunningly beautiful Camargue horses. After, you will enjoy a local lunch while being entertained by Gypsy musicians and dancers, which are a significant part of the Camargue culture. Following lunch, you will leave the Manade for Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer to set sail on a catamaran on the Mediterranean (weather permitting). You will have the opportunity to fish as well as enjoy a bespoke wine tasting of Sable de Camargue wines on board. Satiated by sun, salt, and sea air (and wine), you will make your way back to your accommodations to refresh and enjoy dinner.

Day 5: Tuesday, June 23, 2020

Today, following your breakfast and French lesson, you will depart for the Luberon region and your private guide will share with you the stories of this mythical part of Provence en route. You will arrive n the small village of Buoux where you will be greeted by Oliver, your local guide and carriage driver who will lead you through the infamous fields of lavender, educating you on all there is to know about this iconic French flower. You will have the opportunity to pick the lavender, which will be in full bloom in June, and see the famous bories (stone huts) typical in the Lubron. Then you will go by carriage to the Les Agnels Distillerie to learn about the process of distilling the lavender. After a local lunch, you will depart to the village of Roussillon to visit Le Sentier des Ocres to walk the paths amidst the red and yellow cliffs (Hint: Do not wear white shoes due to the colourful dust). You will return to your accommodations for an evening at leisure.

"Traveling as a family is so important because it shows us all other parts of the world and how we, as humans, all connect by food and shared experiences. It’s something we have always done together since our girls were little. My family loves to eat and entertain, so the Suppers Outside the South tour with Premier Tours & Travel is something we are excited to dive into." ~ Carrie Morey, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit

Day 6: Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Following breakfast, your French tutor will be preparing you and your family for your visit to Saint-Remy and for a visit to a historic olive oil mill. In the village of Saint-Remy in the heart of Provence, forever entwined with the legacy of Vincent Van Gogh, you will find everything Provençal you desire as you stroll along the boulevards under the shade of century-old trees. Your guided walking tour will take you around the narrow little streets, discovering squares where children play in the fountains, and the attractive boutiques and art galleries that make the town’s historic center so lively. You will enjoy strolling through the local marketplace, brimming with fresh produce, baguettes straight from the oven, fragrant herbs, and seasonal specialties … taste and select some French cheeses to take back to Domaine des Clos. Enjoy lunch at leisure at one of the many cafes and restaurants before departing to Fontvieille, a small village in the heart of the Alpilles near to Alphone Daudet. It is here where the Sourdon family has produced its fine olive oil in a typical "Mas" from the 12th century. You will visit the mill run by Anne and Magali -- who share (like their ancestors) a real passion for the "Vallée des Baux" and its olive cultivation tradition. You will partake in oil tasting with olive pastes and toasts. Then you will return to your accommodations for an evening at leisure and dinner.

Day 7: Thursday, June 25, 2020

After breakfast, your day will be at leisure on the property. Relax by the pool. Read a book under the covered terrace. Play chess, Carrom, or Draughts (checkers) in the garden. The day is yours to make of it what you want! Today, Carrie’s daughters will be offering a biscuit making class for the children that they won’t want to miss. Then in the evening, you will be dining off property in Arles at Le Galoubet. You will pass in front of the Roman theatre and Roman arena and follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh, who made Arles his home for more than a year.

Day 8: Friday, June 26, 2020

Now that you are rejuvenated from your day at leisure and are sated from your breakfast, you will be heading out to Pont du Gard and Mas de Tourelles today. Your morning French lesson will prepare you with words to express delight! You will experience a two-hour kayak adventure under the famous Pont du Gard. One of the most impressive Roman structures still in existence and classified as an UNESCO heritage site, the Pont du Gard remains one of the great masterpieces of humanity — a wonder of antiquity and a technical feat — and you will have the opportunity to paddle right underneath this dazzling display. You will picnic on the banks of the river with an opportunity to swim before departing for Domaine des Clos. En route, enjoy a wine tasting will be dropped at Mas des Tourelles on the banks of the ancient Via Domitia in an authentic 17th century Provençal farmhouse, you will discover the winemaking in Roman times. Stroll through the Roman gardens and into the restored vineyards and the archaeological remains of an amphora workshop with its ovens. You will learn about a Roman harvest through the unique reconstruction of a Gallo-Roman cellar, with its wooden lever press, terracotta jars, amphoras, and baskets. Three types of wine are vinified in the cellar – Mulsum, Turriculae, and Carenum. After visiting the cellar, the adults enjoy a tasting while the children learn how to make an oil lamp such as those used in Roman times. You will then return to the accommodations for a Farewell Dinner and time to pack.

"I think we all have a zest for life and a hunger to try new things. Seeing, doing, and eating new things all together is such a unique experience! My family appreciates different cultures by experiencing their food, language, and culture. While it may be different from our Southern American culture, food is ultimately a universal language that we all can understand!” ~ Carrie Morey, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit

Day 9: Saturday, June 27, 2020
A boxed breakfast will be provided upon your departure to the Marseille International Airport for your return to the United States. Bon voyage!
