Day 3: Thursday, September 24, 2020
Today you will be cruising the inside passage, giving you a day at sea to get acquainted with the vast array of onboard amenities. Keep in mind you can schedule your excursions starting 180 days prior to sailing. You can schedule your spa appointments starting 60 days before sailing.
Day 4: Friday, September 25, 2020
Ketchikan, on the southwest side of Revillagigedo Island, will be your destination today. Ketchikan’s name supposedly comes from the native term “Katch Kanna,” which roughly translates to “spread wings of a thundering eagle.” At one time, Ketchikan was proclaimed the “Salmon Capital of the World.” An outstanding collection of totem poles makes a visit to Ketchikan essential to anyone interested in Native art. Travelers flock to Ketchikan for their first look at the North Country and are rarely disappointed. Be sure to explore the ways in which you can enhance your excursions with your additional shipboard credit.
Day 5: Saturday, September 26, 2020
Juneau, Alaska will be your port of call for a day filled with glorious adventure. In 1880, Joe Juneau and Richard Harris were prospecting for gold with the help of Indian guides. Here they discovered nuggets “as large as beans” at the mouth of the aptly named Gold Creek. Out of their discoveries came three of the largest gold digs in the world where more than $150 million in gold was mined. Juneau’s surrounding beauty and natural wonders have attracted cruise ship travelers for over a century, with steamship companies bringing tourists here since the early 1880’s.
Day 6: Sunday, September 27, 2020
Today you will be at sea cruising the Hubbard Glacier en route to beautiful Sitka, Alaska.
Day 7: Monday, September 28, 2020
Your next port of call will be Sitka. Founded by Russian fur traders as New Archangel in 1799, Sitka was the historic center of Russia’s Alaskan empire. The Russian flag was replaced by the Stars and Stripes when the United States purchased the Alaska territory in 1867. Today, picturesque Sitka, is known for its fishing industry, an annual summer classical music festival and, of course, its many historic visitor attractions. On a clear day Sitka, the only city in southeast Alaska that fronts the Pacific Ocean, rivals Juneau for the sheer beauty of its surroundings.
Day 8: Tuesday, September 29, 2020
Today will be at sea en route to fabulous Victoria, British Columbia.
Day 9: Wednesday, September 30, 2020
Once in port, you will see Victoria is a picture-perfect city exuding old-world charm, with fragrant and colorful flowers everywhere. Founded in 1843 by James Douglas of the Hudson’s Bay Company, it was first known as Fort Victoria. By 1848, Vancouver Island was made a British colony. In 1868, Vancouver Island was incorporated with mainland British Columbia. Although it is a port city, Victoria is not as industrially oriented as Vancouver. The harbors, especially Inner Harbour, are dotted with pleasure crafts, ferries, and floatplanes.
Day 10: Thursday, October 1, 2020
The very next day, you will dock in Astoria, Oregon. Nestled against the wooded hills along the mouth of the Columbia River, Astoria is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies. With its steep hills and beautiful Victorian homes, Astoria has been called the “Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest.” Named for the early fur trader, John Jacob Astor, Astoria offers the traveler Fort Clasop, the reconstructed winter quarters of the Lewis and Clark expedition, the elegant Victorian mansion of Captain Flavel and excursions into the breathtaking surroundings including Mount St. Helens.
Day 11: Friday, October 2, 2020
Enjoy your day at sea before embarking on San Francisco. Be sure to take advantage of any amenities you may not have experienced yet!
Day 12: Saturday, October 3, 2020
San Francisco open your Golden Gates! From the first Spanish Mission founded by the “Sacred Expedition” in 1776, to the rip-roaring days of the Barbary Coast and California Gold Rush to rising phoenix-like after the great earthquake of 1906, San Francisco never ceases to please the eye, the heart and the palate. With such iconic sites as Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Victorian architecture of Pacific Heights, Union Square, colorful trolley cars, Muir Woods and the surrounding vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Valley, the “City by the Bay” is always a must-see on any visitor’s list to the West Coast.
Day 13: Sunday, October 4, 2020
Bask in your final day at sea as you make way toward Los Angeles, your final port of call on this epic journey of luxury, natural beauty and history.
Day 14: Monday, October 5, 2020
Bask in the history of the City of Angels—and its fast pace—for your last port of call. After the Jesuits built a series of missions along the coast of Alta California, the Spaniards established a port in 1781 as a supply stop for their coastal shipping routes. With the arrival of the transcontinental railroad and the discovery of oil, people began to arrive in droves. In 1923 the much-photographed giant letters were erected on the hill, and the golden age of Hollywood was born. The scale of Los Angeles, 90 miles long by 50 miles wide, defies belief. You will be disembarking in Los Angeles and transferred to the airport. Should you wish to stay in Los Angeles, Premier Tours & Travel would be happy to assist you with your plans.
