Day 1
Depart United States for Nice, France

Day 2 – Grasse, France

Arrive Nice International Airport in the morning followed by private transfer to your hotel in Grasse (45 minutes); three nights in La Bastide St. Antoine, a Relais & Chateaux hotel. Check-in your hotel with free time to explore the village on your own. (Lunch and Dinner on your own.)

Day 3 – Grasse - Pont du Loup – Vence - St. Paul de Vence - Grasse

After breakfast at La Bastide St. Antoine, your guide will pick you up from the hotel to bring you on a guided visit to the Isnard Gardens in Grasse -- considered the perfume capital of the world. You will be guided through the gardens by a member of the Isnard family to learn about all of the work that precedes the making of perfume. You will travel on to Vence for lunch on your own and to visit the Chapelle du Rosaire, a Catholic chapel with singularly beautiful windows and décor designed by Matisse himself. You will then travel on to the charming village of Pont du Loup, famous for the growing of its violets, with a tasting at Florian Confiserie & Chocolaterie -- an acclaimed confectionary since 1921 and honored with the Coupe d’Or du Bon Goût Français, the “Gold Cup of French Good Taste -- and free time to shop. From there on to the quaint village of St. Paul de Vence for a walking tour where galleries and studios dominate the village.  You will have time to stroll through St. Paul de Vence and take in some shopping. You will return to freshen up before a quick transport to dinner at Michelin Bib Gourmand Lougolin Restaurant to settle in on the terrace under the lime trees and enjoy the view of the plain and the city of Grasse. (Lunch on your own.)

Day 4 – Eze - Nice – Villefranche-sur-Mer

Your morning will begin with a visit to the picturesque village of Eze a charming hilltop town with jaw-dropping views of the Mediterranean Sea on the Cote d'Azur— where you will enjoy a guided walking tour and time for strolling through the village at leisure. You will depart for the village of Villefranche-sur-Mer and meet your guide for a walking tour of this lovely seaside town.  The bright and animated waterfront is lined with Italian facades with cafes and bars.  Walking through the narrow, winding and steep streets, you will get a glimpse of the harbor from many vantage points and have the opportunity (optional) to paint by the sea to capture the amazing land and seascapes of the French Riviera. Your final stop will be Nice where you will visit the Matisse Museum, located high atop the city and you will enjoy a guided tour to view his many works.  (Lunch and Dinner on your own.)

Day 5 – Aix-en-Provence – Villa Le Mas de Belle Combe, Gordes, France

Following your final breakfast at La Bastide St. Antoine, you will depart Grasse for your lovely villa in Gordes. On your way, you will enjoy the amazing town of Aix-en-Provence, founded by the Romans in 103 BC. Aix-en-Provence has been called the city of a thousand fountains and is known for its colorful market, which will be in full swing on this Saturday guided walking tour.  At the Aix market, you will have time to explore, discovering the vegetables and fruits, cheeses, herbs, olive oil, and all the flavors of Provence in the center near Cours Mirabeau. After lunch on your own, you will travel on to Puyloubier, which is one of the points on the Cézanne trail that starts at Aix. Puyloubier is, without a doubt, one of the places that inspired the artist enormously. You will then enjoy a stop for a wine tasting at Chateau Gassier, famous for its rose wines, before checking in at Villa Le Mas de Belle Combe. You will be welcomed to your temporary home in Provence with hors d’oeurves and wine in the garden and a Chef’s Dinner with a champagne toast. (Lunch on your own.)

Limited openings remain for this Premier Experience in Provence with Artist Lucy Weigle. Call Judy at 843.237.9903 or email today to secure a spot or to discuss the itinerary further.

Day 6 -– Gordes

Wake up to breakfast and an amazing view of the hillside village of medieval Gordes, France. On a guided tour, walk through the vaulted, arcaded lanes that reveal the town’s many charms and lead to local markets where you can pick up the makings for a traditional picnic lunch—perhaps a baguette, fruit and meats, cheese, olives and, of course, wine … anything that tempts your palate! Enjoy your picnic in a Provencal meadow that looks out over the picturesque valley with afternoon time spent visiting sublime Sénanque Abbey, a must-see on any itinerary in Provence. An order of monks still lives here, harvesting lavender and welcoming people on retreat. You will have an optional opportunity to paint today, too. Chef’s Dinner upon your return to the villa. (Lunch on your own.)

Day 7 – Roussillon – Bonnieux - Menerbes

Breakfast at the villa and then head out to enjoy the hilltop villages of Roussillon, Bonnieux, and Menerbes. In addition to guided walking tours, you will have free time to peruse each quaint locale and enjoy lunch at leisure in Bonnieux. In Menerbes, the village made famous by the author Peter Mayle in his book, A Year in Provence, you will make a visit to the Pascal Laine art gallery, which since 1988 has been showing an eclectic choice of artists who have worked in Provence. Complete your day with a visit to Domaine de la Citadelle cellars and taste their delectable wines, and visit their beautiful botanical gardens for inspiration. (Lunch and Dinner on your own in the village of Gordes. Taxi transportation not included.)

Day 8 – Gordes

After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to experience market day in Gordes. Stroll through the market and do as the locals do.  You are invited to join Chef Mary at the market to select the freshest ingredients for the evening’s cooking lesson and wine pairing experience. As well, you may take time to paint in Gordes or to simply explore this beautiful village on your own. (Lunch on your own.) Cooking lesson and wine pairing with Chef for dinner.

Day 9 – Saint-Remy - Les Baux - Fontvieille

Following breakfast, you will be transported to the village of Saint-Remy in the heart of Provence, forever entwined with the legacy of Vincent van Gogh. You will find everything Provençal you desire as you stroll along the boulevards under the shade of centuries-old trees. Your guided walking tour will take you around the narrow little streets, discovering squares where children play in the fountains, and the attractive boutiques and art galleries that make the town’s historic center so lively. You will enjoy strolling through the local market place, brimming with fresh produce, baguettes straight from the oven, fragrant herbs, and seasonal specialties … taste and select some French cheeses and wines to take back to the villa. Enjoy lunch at leisure at one of the many cafes and restaurants before departing for Les Baux-de-Provence. Les Baux is a listed heritage site that has won titles such as “One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France” or "Station classée." Enjoy a walking tour and shopping time before heading to Fontvieille, a small Provençal village in the heart of the Alpilles near to Alphone Daudet. It is here where the Sourdon family has produced its fine olive oil in a typical "Mas" from the 12th century. You will visit the mill run by Anne and Magali -- who share (like their ancestors) a real passion for the "Vallée des Baux" and its olive cultivation tradition. You will partake in oil tasting with olive pastes and toasts. Return to the villa to relax and enjoy a chef's dinner. (Lunch on your own.)

Day 10 – Avignon - Châteauneuf-du-Pape

After breakfast at the villa, you will depart for the village of Avignon -- one of the most historically significant towns in France. From 1309 to 1377, it was the seat of the Catholic popes. It remained under papal rule until becoming part of France in 1791. This legacy can be seen in the massive Palais des Papes (Popes' Palace) in the city center, which is surrounded by medieval stone ramparts. Following lunch at leisure, you will depart for Châteauneuf-du-Pape between Avignon and Orange, France. In the 14th century Pope Jean XXII, chose Châteauneuf as the location for their summer residences, and then decided to plant vines on the stony land that surrounded their landholdings. For a long time, the wine production remained a secret but in 1929, it was officially recognized and bestowed with its own appellation: Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This appellation means that the wine production in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is subject to strict controls to ensure that the 55 vineyards produce extremely fine wine. In addition to a walking tour of the village, you will enjoy a private wine tasting in the historic and stunning Cave Saint Charles in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. After the wine tasting, you will be transferred back to the villa for a Chef's dinner.

Day 11 – Gordes

On your last full day, take time to explore the lovely grounds, the amazing views, or perhaps enjoy a walk about. Capture the essence of Provence through your photography or painting. Perhaps revisit a favorite nearby village for last minute shopping!  A taxi for hire can be arranged. (Lunch on your own.) Farewell Chef's Dinner.

Day 12 - Gordes

Breakfast at the Villa. Check-out of Villa Le Mas De Belle Combe and Transfer to Marseille Airport for your flight home.
