Spend your first four nights in the luxurious accommodations of Hotel Casa Real on the grounds of one of “The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands 2019” (Drinks International), Viña Santa Rita. Picnic in their vineyards, taste their acclaimed Cabernets, indulge in an authentic Chilean barbecue, pairing the wines under the guidance of our dedicated sommelier and our hosts. Then simply settle into to the Chilean countryside and the warmth of its people.
In addition to your time in the Maipo Valley — a destination chosen as one of the top 10 wine travel destinations for 2019 by Wine Enthusiast magazine, you will taste some of the finest wines in the Colchagua and San Antonio Valleys (transported by a private driver). From the famed Casa Lapostolle Winery (of the Grand Marnier Family) and Neyen Winery with its 115-year-old Carménère vines, to the “most daring and innovative” Casa Marin and organic, state-of-the-art Matetic Winery, your palette and your knowledge for Chilean wines will be enhanced.
Your final day and night in Chile will be spent exploring the bustling city of Santiago, experiencing a traditional Chilean dinner and cultural dance show, and rejuvenating in one of the city’s most luxurious hotels.
After a brief domestic flight from Chile, you will touch down in Mendoza, Argentina to begin your exploration of some of this country’s finest wines, cuisine and cultural experiences over the next several days. Your home base for four nights will be The Vines Resort & Spa, named #2 of the "Top 10 Resort Hotels in South America" for 2019 Travel + Leisure's "World's Best" awards and #25 on the coveted "Top 100 Hotels in the World" list, where you will have plenty of leisure time to schedule your own personal activities (not included), such as sunrise or sunset horseback riding and spa treatments, or to simply gaze at the Andes Mountains on the not-so-distant horizon.
In addition to a winemaker’s blending session, a gourmet picnic, various tastings, an empanada cooking class, and an unforgettable experience at Francis Mallmann’s Siete Fuegos restaurant, you will have the opportunity to explore various other leading Argentinian wineries near The Vines and in the Uco Valley with Sommelier Pierson Ryan, including the artisanl, high-altitude Loscano Vineyards where you will enjoy a private experience with the winemaker, Valeria Antolin, and a bespoke, five-course tasting and wine pairing session. In addition, your private driver will shepherd you to other wineries such as Monteviejo, DiamAndes, Andaluna, and/or Salentein.
Spend your final two nights at the classic Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, drinking in the excitement of Buenos Aires by way of a full-day city tour and a fabulous evening of Tango and Milonga before departing back to the United States with an expanded knowledge and appreciation for culture, food, wine, and people of Chile and Argentina.

ABOUT SOMMELIER PIERSON RYAN
Pierson Ryan is first and foremost the father of two great kids, Ridge and Hudson, and husband to his wife, Erika. Growing up Italian, food and wine were more than a passion for Pierson, it was the fabric of his culture. His grandmother owned and operated a fine dining Italian restaurant for 40 years in Vermont. His father owned and operated eight restaurants and managed others for 25 years as owner of a restaurant consulting company. His brother is a Certified Chef with a huge talent and a culinary degree from the Culinary Institute of America. And his mother is an incredible cook and lover of great wine. So, as you can see, the pairing of great food with the correct wine is part of Pierson’s DNA. He completed the Level 2 Certified Sommelier exam just over three years ago and is currently working at Los Angeles-based Free Run Juice, a small distribution wine company in California focusing on highly rated, small production wines from around the world. Prior to working with Free Run Juice, Pierson helped manage and organize the wine sections for four Trader Joe's locations over the course of 10 years. Although his favorite wines come from California, France, and Northern Italy, he is passionate about all wines – particularly when he can personally pair them with food. He shared that, “To me, wine and food is a symbiotic relationship as important as air is to a human being.” His life’s passion is to help people learn about food and wine and to make it an approachable, fun, and relaxed experience in any setting.
